Ellen M Rugg, MA, MSW, LICSW
Welcome to my website.
When beginning with a new client, my first priority
is to build a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic
relationship. Our relationship itself will become
an important agent of change.
I'm interactive in sessions, and my style is warm.
I often work with high functioning women & men
whom are highly motivated toward change, healing or
My approach is strength-based, and I work with
a wide range of problems.
Problems/issues I enjoy working with include: life or
relationship transitions, self-esteem, self-growth, issues
specific to women, grief & loss, and healing from childhood abuse or trauma. I'm guided by the belief that most times we have our own answers, and that sometimes we need help uncovering our answers or trusting our own instincts.
I work collaboratively with each client to create a specific plan based on strengths, needs, and goals. Depending on your specific needs are we may: 1. work psychodynamically (explore your history to learn how it's affecting your current life), 2. work cognitive-behaviorally (explore & challenge distorted beliefs/thoughts which may be affecting your feelings & behavior) or, 3. work to resolve trauma, physical or sexual abuse by weaving back and forth between the "here & now" and the past.
As a Washington State Approved Supervisor, I enjoy providing clinical supervision to Clinical Social Workers, Psychologists, and Mental Health Counselors working toward Licensure. I also provide consultation to other Licensed Clinicians.
You'll find more detailed information on my experience, approach and philosophy under "Paperwork" in my "Disclosure Statement".
I 'm devoted to my work, and consider it a privilege to be part of therapeutic change process. Feel free to call me if you feel that you and I might be a good therapeutic "fit".
